Harwich and Dovercourt Choral Society (HADCS)

Harwich and Dovercourt Choral Society was first mentioned in the press in 1891 and has been bringing pleasure to many singers and audiences ever since. In its present form the Society has been in existence since 1921. It celebrated its centenary in St. Nicholas’ Church, Harwich in October 2021 with a “Messiah Highlights” concert bringing together soloists, instrumental ensemble, singers and guests in a memorable performance. This long established group enjoys learning and performing music from a wide variety of musical periods and styles.

Stage and Screen

Harwich and Dovercourt Choral Society and Tendring Male Voice Choir join forces to present a varied programme of music celebrating music from stage and screen including: Cole Porter songs, Gilbert and Sullivan, a little light opera, and numbers from musicals including “Fiddler on the Roof” and featuring “Les Miserables”.

Tendring Male Voice Choir

Under the direction of Sarah Stephens for the past two years, the Tendring Male Voice Choir has enjoyed exploring varied musical styles showcasing the special quality of the male voice. The choir collaborates with other local groups including Spectrum, Cantate, and Colchester Military Wives. It also makes charitable performances in support of local organisations and other fundraising projects
